Microneedling FAQs

Answers to common questions about microneedling, suitability, treatment and aftercare at Beautie x.

What is microneedling?

A cosmetic skin treatment using a pen-like device with fine sterile needles to create controlled micro-injuries, supporting the skin’s natural collagen-remodelling process.

Who is it suitable for?

It may suit some people looking to improve skin texture, fine lines or certain scars. Active skin infections, inflammatory breakouts, healing problems, certain medicines and medical conditions can make treatment unsuitable. A consultation is needed.

How is microneedling performed?

A trained practitioner passes a sterile microneedling device over the treatment area to create tiny, controlled punctures. Depth and treatment approach depend on the skin and goals.

What are the potential benefits?

Over a course of treatments it may improve the appearance of acne scars, uneven texture, fine lines and some pigmentation concerns. Results vary and are not guaranteed.

What side effects can occur?

Temporary redness, mild swelling, tenderness and dryness are common. Bruising, pinpoint bleeding, flaking, itching or breakouts can occur. Infection, pigment changes and scarring are less common but important risks.

Which areas can I book?

Our menu includes the face, face and neck, or face, neck and décolleté. RF add-ons are also listed. We discuss the treatment approach with you before booking.

How should I prepare for microneedling?

Tell us about medicines, cold sores, skin infections, recent sun exposure and other skin procedures. Follow your practitioner’s advice on active skincare. Do not stop prescribed medication without your prescriber’s advice.

What should I do afterwards?

Use gentle skincare and sun protection. Avoid makeup for at least 24 hours or as advised, and avoid heat, vigorous exercise and harsh exfoliants until your skin settles. See the preparation and aftercare section below.
